The EOP Summer Academy for first-year students is designed to give students a head start on college preparation and adjustment.

What are the benefits of the Summer Academy?

Evidence shows that students who attend summer programs are more successful in college. The Summer Program includes courses in writing, mathematics, computer skills, library skills and self-exploration. These courses are designed to strengthen and develop each student’s academic skills and help them make a successful transition from high school to college. The Summer Academy is also designed to provide students with opportunities to complete computer skills and foreign language tests required of all entering freshmen. It is a time to become familiar with the college campus and the surrounding community, and participate in social and developmental programs.

All information related to the Summer Academy will be discussed at Student and Parent Orientation.

Before & During the Summer Academy

Housing & Move-In Information

All students must attend the mandatory Summer Academy Program and live on campus during the scheduled time July. Students who plan to commute during the fall semester must also live on campus during the summer program. EOP counselors will email you a form to select your move-in time, how you will be arriving (how you will be traveling), and time of arrival to campus.

We strongly recommend that students pack the necessities for the four-week summer program. After completing the summer program, your belongings must be removed from the residence halls. The EOP program and SUNY Brockport University do not provide storage options.
