The Rose Archives, located on the ground floor of Drake Memorial Library, stores documents, media, and artifacts dating back to the inception of SUNY Brockport.

Why History?

Knowing, recording, and uncovering history is a vital component of modern society. Through this, we discover truths, identify patterns, and avoid repeats of past mistakes.

Whether you’re interested in Ancient Rome, the American Civil War, the Cold War, or the History of Japan, you will develop strong critical thinking, research, and communication skills important for success in any career.

Anytime, anywhere

Our History program offers a wide range of courses designed to give you a strong understanding of many historical eras and events. Then after building a basic foundation, craft your curriculum to be as broad or specialized as you’d like.

Additionally, every student will supplement their learning with one of the following:
