Curriculum

Delivery Mode:

• Non-clinical courses are 100% online
• Clinical courses are hybrid and are scheduled on up to three Friday evenings and Saturdays each semester

The CAS curriculum is individually tailored to address additional knowledge needed to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Once admitted, the program director will review your transcript and professional background to complete a personalized gap analysis, determining the required coursework needed to be eligible for Family Nurse Practitioner licensure. For most nurse practitioners with advanced standing, the program will take approximately 16 credit hours.

Upon completion of the program, nurse practitioners will be eligible to sit for the National Licensure Exam as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Curriculum & Learning Outcomes

Program Eligibility

• Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program
• An overall GPA of 3.00 in all previous graduate/undergraduate work is required.
• An unencumbered New York state license and current registration as a registered professional nurse.
• Related and relevant recent work experience in an advanced practice nursing role (minimum of one year, two is preferred.)
• National certification in an advanced practice nurse practitioner specialty is preferred.

This accreditation ensures that when attaining your master’s degree or certificate of advanced study as a Family Nurse Practitioner, the student will meet the highest standards available, allowing you to perform at the highest level possible after attaining your degree.
