What You’ll Learn
Our 42-credit program combines online coursework with in-person sessions to train nurses to become primary care providers for ages 13 and up.
Students are mentored in the application of critical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment skills throughout their clinical rotations.
We also offer the Family Nurse Practitioner (MS, CAS) program designed for nurses who wish to become nurse practitioners who care for patients of all ages, including children.

Non-clinical courses are 100% online

Clinical courses are hybrid and are scheduled on up to three Friday evenings and Saturdays each semester

Our graduate curriculum is designed to provide the education necessary for function at the advanced practice level of nursing with a strong focus on culturally competent care. This helps develop the attitudes, knowledge, and skills necessary for providing care to diverse populations.
Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the national licensure exam as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.

Program Eligibility

An overall GPA of 3.00 in all previous graduate/undergraduate work is required.

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited nursing program or an international equivalent is required

An unencumbered New York state license and current registration as a registered professional nurse

Recent work experience as a registered nurse is preferred and required before graduation

Career Outlook
As the U.S. population ages, this career is in high demand. According to the U.S. Census, by 2050 more than 20% of Americans—88 million people—will be over age 65, increasing the need for Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioners. Adult-gerontology nurse practitioners manage acute and chronic health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD, and asthma. Nurse Practitioners are committed to promoting health within the community and have a passion for working with at-risk and culturally diverse adult and elderly populations.
