Numerous awards recognize student leadership at SUNY Brockport.

Donald & Gloria Huot Excellence in Leadership Award

This award recognizes an entering junior or senior year student who demonstrates strong academic achievement and leadership skills through service to the University and/or community. Preference is given to first-generation college students. Applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and return for study at Brockport after receiving the award.


George Rich Student Philanthropy Award

This award recognizes a student who has made significant contributions to the University community in the form of service, monetary donation, or creative works through time and/or talent, and/or inspired others to be similarly involved. Applicants will nominate an on-campus philanthropic, educational, or cultural endeavor to receive an additional award.


John R. Halstead Family Leadership in Higher Education Award

This award recognizes an entering junior or senior year student who demonstrates strong academic achievement and leadership skills through service to the University and/or community. The recipient must also show genuine commitment to a career in high education and further studies in student development. Applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and return for study at Brockport after receiving the award.


Josh Silber ’93 Excellence in Leadership Award

This award recognizes an entering junior or senior year student who demonstrates leadership skills through service to the University and/or community and scholastic achievement. Examples include, but are not limited to, service in a leadership position with Brockport Student Government (BSG) or other student clubs and organizations, being a successful and respected Resident Assistant (RA), and/or organizing and leading a group of peers or others in a successful fundraising or community service activity. The recipient will demonstrate how their academic studies, leadership experience, and extracurricular activities contribute to their personal development and future plans after at-tending Brockport through a 500-word essay. Applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and return for study at Brockport after receiving the award.
