Advancement and Communications Newsletter

Friday, February 27, 2026

I’ve noticed that every other Divisional newsletter has started out talking about the weather and this cold and snowy winter. To change the vibe … let’s remember that we are less than a month from spring and less than four months from summer!

So many updates …

  • We are pushing hard toward the $40 million goal for Igniting Excellence: The Campaign for Brockport. We are currently at $36,235,865.55 or 90.6 percent of the goal. Everyone is doing a great job contributing to the success we are having.
  • The five finalists for the Director of Marketing position will be on campus early in March. Although there won’t be an open forum, our Division is invited to attend a presentation that each candidate will deliver to members of Advancement and Communications and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Here’s the schedule:
    • Thursday, 3/5 9:45-10:30 am in McCue Auditorium - Joshua Kruk

Thursday, 3/5 2:45-3:30 pm in Eagle’s Lookout - Chris Passarell

Monday, 3/9 10:30-11:15 am in Eagle’s Lookout - Matt Mazzaferro

Monday, 3/9 2:30-3:15 pm in Eagle’s Lookout - Patrick Broadwater

Tuesday, 3/10 3:00-3:45 pm in McCue Auditorium - Laura DiBenedetto

  • Our streaming campaign begins next week and will continue over the next four months. Zach Lyman and Sophia Timba have been creating a ton of new content that will be streamed to prospective students through connected TV, including several 30-second student success stories.

  • More than 70 alumni have been nominated for awards for the 2026-27 cycle. Recipients will be announced later this semester and honored at Homecoming in September.
  • Thanks to the committee that is already working hard on the June 18 event “Celebration of Brockport: A night of legacies, community, and excellence.” More to come as the program gets firmed up. Two of the five major areas of focus will be the President’s retirement dinner and the campaign closing celebration.
  • As noted in an email earlier this week:
    • Jenny Blood has been promoted to Controller for the Brockport Foundation. I am excited to share this great news, and I want to thank Jenny for the exceptional work she has done to earn this new title, which accurately reflects her work in managing all Foundation assets.
    • After an internal search, Kaci Chiappone has been selected to move into the Scholarship Coordinator position. As noted last month, Garrett Roe will manage the process for this cycle/semester while Kaci goes through training and gets up to speed on the process. She will continue to work throughout the spring in her Coordinator of University Events position. When she is fully in this new role, Kaci will maintain a portfolio of Advancement events. She also will report to a new supervisor, Erica Linden.
    • And the search for the new Manager of University Events also is progressing with a strong group of candidates going through the process currently. The hope is to bring 3-5 candidates to campus for interviews in March.

  • The Day of Giving (March 25-April 8) planning is in full swing and the excitement is building for another great success. Thanks to all who are leading and supporting this important fundraising effort.
