Dear Colleagues:

Today’s weekly update will be a little shorter than usual as I was on vacation for a few days to see my family in Minnesota.

While in Minnesota, I was able to charge the search committee for the VP for Administration and Finance. As you may be aware, Jackie Clark has resigned. Jackie is grateful for the opportunities that have been afforded her during her time at Brockport, both professionally and personally. We thank her for her service and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. Jim Wall will remain as Interim VP for the next six months as we commence the search for a permanent replacement. We have engaged Storbeck Search of the Diversified Search Group to assist with the search, and I have appointed Ms. Kristin Hartway as the Search Chair. We will create a webpage focused on the search, which we hope to conclude before the beginning of the fall semester.

I was able to attend the Career Fair on Wednesday, which was busy and vibrant. I am grateful to those of you who tabled at the event, and to those of who organized it. It was great to see several hundred students getting a chance to check out what their next steps might be. Wednesday was also our annual Day of Giving — and it was a resounding success! More than 1,550 gifts totaling more than $210,000 were made to SUNY Brockport during the campaign, which surpassed last year’s record-setting effort. I am incredibly grateful to both the organizers of this campaign and our generous community for their support of student success.

The week finished with a trip to New York City to attend an alumni and donor event on Thursday, with the Brockport Foundation meeting occurring today. Next week I will be traveling to Albany for a presidents’ meeting, after which I look forward to not travelling for a week or so!
