Description
The Marketing Minor provides a solid foundation in marketing principles and practices, such as an understanding of how to promote and sell products or services effectively. You will learn how to analyze the market, develop marketing strategies, and communicate effectively, skills that are valuable in any professional setting. Knowledge of marketing can make you more attractive to employers across different sectors since every business needs effective marketing. The Marketing Minor can complement your major, enhancing your resume and preparing you for various career opportunities.
This program welcomes students from a variety of majors, including but not limited to Communications, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Public Health, Dance, and Sport Management. Students enrolled in other business disciplines (Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, and International Business) are eligible.
Admission to the Program
A student must have an overall average GPA of 2.5 or higher, and receive a grade of “C” or higher in ONE of the following courses to declare the Marketing Minor:
- MTH 111 College Algebra
- MTH 112 College Mathematics
- MTH 122 Pre-Calculus
- MTH 201 Calculus I
- MTH 202 Calculus II
- MTH 221 Calculus for Business, Social and Life Sciences I
Program Requirements
The minor must be completed with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher in all courses taken at SUNY Brockport. At least 9 of the 18 credits for the minor must be completed at SUNY Brockport.

Foundation Courses (6 credits)
- ONE of the following three economics courses:
- ECN 204 Introduction to Business Statistics (or equivalent)
Marketing Courses (12 credits)
Required (3 credits)
THREE of the following electives (9 credits):
