The Financial Aid Office is required by the U.S. Department of Education and is used to verify a student’s enrollment. The financial aid census date is a standard date established by the university. On the census date the university will take a ‘snapshot’ of the enrollment and this becomes the official enrollment status used for federal financial aid eligibility. The census date will occur immediately following the end of the drop period. Summer census will occur at the end of the day on July 15. Consortium agreements with all required approvals/forms are due by the financial aid census date.

Students should contact the Financial Aid Office prior to adding or dropping a course to be advised of the potential impact on financial aid eligibility. If a student has an increase or decrease in their enrollment level through the census date, the financial aid will be adjusted, as necessary, to ensure that it is the appropriate amount given for the enrollment level. This may mean that if federal aid has already been disbursed, you/we may have to return some of that money to the Office of Student Accounts and Accounting.

No adjustments will be made to federal financial aid because of enrollment changes after the credit census date unless a student withdraws from all courses or if loans have not yet disbursed and the student dropped below six credit hours. If a student withdraws completely for the semester, a Return of Title IV Funds Calculation will have to be performed by the Office of Student Accounts and Accounting.

Please note that the definition of fulltime enrollment for Federal aid purposes is 12.0 credits regardless of your level of study.
