Built in 1941, Hartwell Hall is the oldest building on the Brockport campus, named after former president Ernest Hartwell.

Location

Our campus is located on mile 288 of the Erie Canal, just 20 miles west of Rochester and 10 miles south of Lake Ontario. 

Walking distance from campus is the Village of Brockport, a quaint town whose main street features a number of independent boutiques, cafes, and restaurants, including the second oldest operating movie theater in the country.

History

SUNY Brockport was founded in 1835, known then as the Brockport Collegiate Institute. Since its inception, our school has undergone a number of evolutions and milestones as it grew into the university we are today.

On the fifth floor of the REOC building in the City of Rochester, Brockport Downtown offers primarily graduate courses, as well as a select few undergraduate courses.

President Heidi Macpherson

Heidi Macpherson is the 7th president of SUNY Brockport. 

Since entering her role in 2015, she has led our institution through the development of the Strategic Plan, a global pandemic, and our elevation into “university” status.
