How do I pay my account balance?
- Log into Web Banner, select the “Student Services” tab, click on “Student Accounts” and choose “Pay Your Bill”
- You may also pay via electronic check (ACH) from your checking or savings account. There are no fees assessed for paying online.
- If you prefer, you can visit Student Services in the Rakov Center, 2nd Floor. They’re open 8 am-4 pm, Monday-Friday. Checks should be made payable to SUNY Brockport and should include your Brockport (Banner) ID number.

Who is my faculty advisor?
Log on to Web Banner. Click on the Student Services tab, then on the Student Records menu, then View Student Information. Your advisor is listed at the bottom of the Student Information section. If there is no advisor listed, contact your graduate program director listed on the graduate program page.
How do I add, drop, or withdraw from a course?

What is temporary academic leave?
Students whose progress toward degree completion is interrupted by circumstances beyond their control may apply for leave up to three consecutive semesters (fall, spring, summer). A Temporary Academic Leave form must be completed. Leaves of absence approved by the department will not be charged against the continuous enrollment or time to degree completion Brockport graduate policies.
What GPA is required for graduation?
A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is required.

I can‘t finish my thesis this semester; what am I supposed to do?
Graduate students who have registered for the maximum number of program thesis/project credits and have not yet completed the thesis/project must register for one credit of research/project continuance each semester until the thesis/project has been completed and approved. The completion of continuation credits (TCC) are evaluated as either satisfactory or unsatisfactory. TCC credits do not count toward degree requirements, nor are the grades for these credits used in the calculation of GPA. Students and their thesis advisers are encouraged to develop a TCC plan that informs the work of the semester. TCC is not required for the summer or winter semester. Get the TCC Credit Form.

What is a virtual permit?
Virtual permitting will start in the Spring 2023 semester. Your vehicle license plate is considered your permit. Make sure you accurately report the plate information in the parking portal.

What steps should I take if I would like to change my graduate program?
Matriculated graduate students who wish to change their graduate program to one outside their current department must complete and submit a Request to Change Program form. Please be aware the submission of this form is not a guarantee that a program change will be approved and that additional requirements may be needed for enrollment in the new program.

Can I change my preferred name and pronouns for SUNY Brockport records and communications?
Yes. Fill out the request form. Your chosen first name will appear on your Eagle One ID Card, Banner and Blackboard. Your legal name will still appear on official transcripts, medical records, paychecks, financial aid documents, and other documents which allow for legal name only.

What types of instruction are offered?
Online, In-Person, Hybrid classes are offered depending on the academic program and semester of interest.
What is a hybrid course?
A hybrid course includes both online and in-person instruction.
What is independent study?
Independent study courses permit graduate students to pursue previously studied topics in greater depth. A content outline for each independent study course is developed through consultation between the student and the instructor/sponsor to suit the needs and interests of the student and the special competence of the instructor.
What is directed study?
Directed Study is designed to be a substitute for a traditional course not offered in the semester for which the student wishes to enroll. The material covered in such courses is essentially the same as that in the traditional course.
What steps do I need to complete to receive transfer credit?
You can initiate the process by sending an official transcript to the Center for Graduate Studies. The Center for Graduate Studies will attach the transcript to your student record and notify your academic advisor. Your academic advisor should then submit a transfer credit request form to the Office of Registration and Records.
Is there a limit to the number of credits I can transfer?
A maximum of 12 graduate credits earned at other colleges and universities may be transferred into a SUNY Brockport graduate degree program with the academic department’s approval. The course must carry a grade of “B” or better.
When should I make a transfer credit request?
You should reach out to your academic advisor after your official transcript is on file in your student record.
Can I transfer undergraduate credits into my graduate program?
No, only graduate credits can be considered for transfer to your graduate program.
What is SUNY Cross-registration?
This system allows a student to utilize financial aid as payment for external coursework taken within the SUNY system. Review the process and guidelines.
