Most of Drake Library’s resources and services are available to Brockport’s distance learners. This page is intended to provide an overview of our available resources and services. If you have any questions, please email askdrake@brockport.edu.
Library Resources
We strive for equal access to Drake’s resources for in-person and distance learners. Some ways in which we attempt to reach this goal are:
- When possible and feasible (due to cost, publisher restrictions, or need for the physical book), we will purchase the electronic version of the item before purchasing a physical copy. Currently about 60% of our 900,000+ books are available online.
- We purchase streaming access to media whenever possible. Visit our Media Collection Strategy page for additional information.
- Our databases and most articles are available electronically. For articles available in print, students can request a scan that will be delivered via email within 3 business days.
- For books that are unavailable electronically, students can request up to one chapter of a book be scanned and sent to their email.
- Students can suggest an item be purchased by emailing askdrake@brockport.edu and a librarian will evaluate the request.
- NYPL, Brooklyn & Queens Public Libraries allow anyone going to school in NY state to get a library card. See External Library Cards & Resources for more information.
Graduate Students
We will send print items from Drake Library (except for materials on course reserve and DVDs) or interlibrary loan to Brockport Downtown or a student’s home address by request. We hope to expand our personal delivery service to undergraduate distance learners in the future. Email drakelib@brockport.edu for assistance or see our FAQ on personal delivery.
Reference/Research Help
Drake Librarians are available to support you remotely in several ways through our Ask a Librarian service.
- Book an appointment with a Brockport librarian via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

Visiting the Library
Please stop into the Drake Memorial Library if you are ever on campus! We would love to see you! Before you stop by:
- Find our location on the campus map (link to Drake on campus map)
- Plan for parking:
- If you’re just picking something up, parking for 15 minutes or less is available in the Allen loop.
- If you’re staying longer than 15 minutes, paid visitor parking is available in the Allen loop (up to 2 hours) or in Lots T or V (all day). Parking rates are set by the Parking office, and payment is made using the ParkMobile app.
- If you’re stopping by after 7 or on weekends, permits aren’t required. See the Parking Office webpage for additional information.
Live Near Another SUNY Campus?
SUNY Brockport students are also welcome in the library on any SUNY campus, including community colleges. You can check out materials directly using your SUNY Brockport ID card. See individual campus websites for details about parking and other visitor considerations.
Using Other Rochester Area Libraries
SUNY Brockport participates in the Rochester Regional Library Council’s Access Pass Program. After registering through the Drake Memorial Library, you may use any of the listed libraries free of charge.
