New and Notes …
- Congratulations to Garrett Roe on his new role as Associate Director of Advancement. Garrett will continue to oversee the Brockport Foundation Scholarship Office – a new staff member will be hired on Emily Teator’s vacant line to be the Scholarship Coordinator – while picking up a significant major gift portfolio, some donor relations and stewardship pieces, and leading the implementation of the Engage software program. The vacant “Engagement Officer—Major Giving” position will not be filled.
- In addition, Ben DiMatteo, who had been serving in a temp role from January through March, will rejoin the Finance & Advancement Services team on July 6 in a one-year temporary role. The vacant Office Assistant 2 position will remain vacant over the next year.
- The first iterations of the new campus website re-design have been shared among some members of the Division and everything is looking fantastic. Kudos to everyone working on this project.
- Don’t forget to connect with Dan & Kaci for your work assignment for Commencement, or to assist with the party the night before. Thank you for helping with our year-end celebrations.
- Plan your travel accordingly:
- The Park Avenue bridge in the Village has been going through some renovations and is scheduled to open back up a few days before Commencement.
- Construction on the Main Street bridge over the canal will begin the week of May 15.
- Repaving on Route 31 between Transit Way and Sweden-Walker Road will run from June 1 to Sept. By move-in, the majority of the work will be completed. Work around the Gary Drive signal (coming out of the Wal-Mart parking lot) will be completed before June.
Upcoming events to note:
- This is the busiest season of the year for events:
- This afternoon is the Honors & Awards Ceremony in the Seymour Ballroom. The recipients of the six major School awards (undergraduate and graduate) and the President’s Citation will be recognized at this event.
- Tomorrow is the annual EOP Honors & Recognition Banquet at 6 pm in the Seymour Ballroom. Anyone wishing to attend or sponsor a student can do so by calling Terri Stymus at x2547.
- The Student Leadership Awards Ceremony is Monday, April 24, and will include the announcement of the Marion Schrank Student Leadership award recipient.
- Also that evening, after the Student Leadership ceremony, is the Senior Student-Athlete dinner. The George Rich Award will be presented that night.
- A reminder that the campus will be hosting a “Stomp Out Hunger” event on Friday, April 28, from 11 am to 1 pm with Foodlink’s “Curbside Market” coming to the mall outside the Seymour Union.
Have a great weekend!!
