It’s here!!!
- Happy Commencement Day! Congrats to Megan and Stevie as they cross the stage today and complete their most recent academic journey. We are so happy for you! Who’s next???
- Last night’s “Almost Alum Block Party” was fantastic! It was exciting to see the crowd continue to roll across the street from Parking Lot V to the Toast and all of the festivities. Thanks to Kaci for her vision and leadership and EVERYONE who played a role in this brand-new tradition.
- Today’s the day that caps the 2022-23 academic year. I’m extremely proud of all of the work that has gone into the planning, organization, and execution to make this all happen. Kudos to Dan for putting everything together in his first year coordinating such a massive event and to everyone – and that’s all of you – who have worked tirelessly, made adjustments, and brought all of campus together to create this important and meaningful experience for our graduates. From the beautiful images already on the website, to the social media posts, perfect signage, positive vibes all will be giving off to our students as they enter SERC and Tuttle and the lineup, the smiles and greetings we will share with the attending families and other faculty and staff … it ALL is critical to the success of today. Enjoy every aspect and know the hard work is appreciated.
As for other news and notes …
- The NYS budget details are slowly coming in, and it was a very good year for SUNY on a number of fronts. I’ll share more as the specifics come in, but it appears as though the leaders in Albany made good on several promises. Cabinet will have a budget retreat on Wednesday, May 17.
- A reminder that the Main Street bridge in the Village of Brockport closes this coming Monday (May 15). It will likely be shut down for 18 months.
- I am out of the office on Tuesday, May 16.
Upcoming events to note:
- The Recognition Dinner is Thursday, May 18, starting at 5:30 pm.
- For those who signed up, the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge is on Thursday, May 25. We have another great crowd of campus colleagues participating.
- Our Divisional day at a Rochester Red Wings game is Wednesday, May 31. First pitch is at 11:05 am.
May Birthdays and Anniversaries
- We already celebrated the lone May birthday (Stevie on the 4th) last week.
- SUNY Brockport work anniversaries this month: Zach (5/2/19), John S. (5/5/97), Jenny (5/16/19), and Kerry (5/29/12).
