Year 2, Issue 5: October 30, 2023

As the weather gets colder and we get ready to roll into November, please know how much I appreciate the hard and creative work everyone is doing. It has been a very busy semester, and a productive one as well. We are doing our part to continue to advance the University toward its strategic goals. Keep up the great work while at the same time taking care of yourselves.

News and Notes …

  • As always, the spring will be a busy time, and the April 8 total solar eclipse will just add to the fun. We will be needing staff and students, as well as community members, to help with parking, traffic, stadium support, and many other roles. Please let Kaci know what you would like to do to assist. And thank you in advance!
  • Alumnus and cybersecurity hall of famer Eugene Spafford ’79 was on campus on Friday for a variety of activities, including an afternoon presentation in the Union. Thanks to everyone who participated in his visit.
  • A booklet highlighting the students who completed 2023 summer undergraduate research projects has been published. Contact Brad if you would like a copy.
  • The Faculty & Staff Campaign will launch next week with numerous opportunities for all to make a private gift to the University through the Foundation. In addition to the usual methods, other dates to participate include national Giving Tuesday (Nov. 28) and the Day of Giving (March 6, 2024).
  • Advancement & Communications will be managing the institution’s State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) Campaign again this year. Thanks to Janet, Amy, Dan, and Kaci for taking the lead. It will begin on Dec. 4th and will run through the close of the semester on Dec. 22.
  • Please communicate with your supervisors on your semester-break work schedule. We discussed plans and options at last week’s divisional leadership meeting.
