Year 3, Issue 1: August 2, 2024

It has been a VERY busy summer thus far and I want to thank everyone for the fantastic work you continue to do. Thanks for getting your evaluations for last year and performance programs for this year completed. In addition, everyone had a role in hitting our goals and targets for last year. The Division’s annual report, which highlights many of those accomplishments, is included for you to see. It also includes our high-level goals for 2024-25. Please reach out to John F., Brad, Chris, or me if you have any questions.

In the News!

  • It was great welcoming Chris Smith to the team yesterday. He looks forward to meeting and talking with everyone in the coming days and weeks. Chris will be situated in Brad’s old office, and should he need a space on campus before his full retirement at the end of December, Brad will be in the office right next door.
  • You likely saw the note from HR earlier this week about “Work From Home” for the coming year. Starting the week of August 19, the Divisional WFH day will once again be Wednesdays. During the winter break starting in late December, then again next spring after Commencement, we will go back to the five-days-in-two-weeks plan that we are currently employing.
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed the “catch-up” meetings with all members of the team. In addition to the amazing work you do to advance the institution, you are living very full lives. Some examples of what you are doing away from the office:
    • This summer and fall, staff have or will be traveling to Ireland, France, Portugal, Amsterdam, and Japan, as well as Toronto, Maine, Tennessee, Minnesota, and numerous sites in NYS. Wow!
    • Do you know that you have colleagues who are state/county fair aficionados, ballet and baseball moms and dads, fossil finders, and wood and pottery workers?

Thanks for taking the time to meet and share your stories, interests, and work needs. I’ll do my best to follow-up on everything we discussed.
