Vice President News from Ian Harper
I hope everyone had an enjoyable 4th of July and got the opportunity to enjoy the great weather; it feels as if summer has finally started. That said, it’s hard to believe that we will be welcoming students on campus this week as part of orientation for the new academic year!!
This past month saw the official opening of the “Brockport Bicentennial Bridge.” It was a great occasion with a large turnout. I do encourage you to take a look and walk across the bridge, if you haven’t already done so.
Together with the Finance team, we have been looking at our 5-year financial model projections and held a budget retreat on campus with Cabinet. An outcome of that meeting was the development of a list of potential investments we could make to support the University’s Strategic Plan; watch this space for future updates.
The Campus Electrical Project is progressing well. In fact, the team has worked hard on the remaining schedule and have found a way to limit potential disruptions, particularly with Tower Fine Arts. In addition, the completion date for the project has been accelerated by a week. Congratulations to the team for doing a fabulous job!
Finally, I encourage you all to find time to take a breath and enjoy some downtime over the summer months, as the start of the new academic year is just around the corner.

Brockport Auxiliary Services Corporation (BASC)
BASC is proud to announce that a member of their culinary team was awarded a silver medal at the American Culinary Federation (ACF) sanctioned competition during the Annual Chef Culinary Conference on June 12-13, 2025! Assistant Manager of Production, Jason Lusk, took home an ACF Silver Medal with his culinary team at the University of Massachusetts Chef Culinary Conference’s American Culinary Federation Competition. This year, teams broke into groups of four to prepare a three-course menu consisting of an appetizer, an entrée, a dessert, and a buffet platter. The team utilized three hours of cooking time to prep multiple plates for tastings and photos.
Brockport Information Technology Services (BITS)
BITS held their end-of-the-year celebration picnic on June 17 with lots of good food, games, conversation, and a celebration presentation. Celebrations included multiple items from the last year like new employees, weddings, a birth, and engagement, degrees earned, retirements, awards, and completed projects, to name a few.

F&M’s Procurement & Payment Services (PPS) – As of early June, for the 2024/25 AY, PPS had paid 5,003 invoices and processed 730 Travel Reimbursements!

Promotions
F&M congratulates Christopher Swift on his promotion to Mailing Services Supervisor, effective June 19! Chris has been with the campus for 20 years, working first in Parking & Transportation Services and then with the Mail Services team. He comes with a wealth of customer service experience, including having previously managed the busiest Value City Furniture store in the Northeast. Please join us in congratulating him – we know he will do well!
Achievements
Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) congratulates Angelo Cole and Chris Martinez for their successful completion of the PTMP Certification (Parking, Transportation, & Mobility Professional) at the International Parking & Mobility Institute’s 2025 Conference and Exhibition show in Louisville, Kentucky. The PTMP credential is the leading credential worldwide for parking, transportation, and mobility. It is a symbol of excellence, knowledge, and proficiency widely recognized by peers in the industry. In addition, Angelo successfully completed the PECP credential (Parking Enforcement & Compliance Professional), further strengthening his knowledge and skillset.

The Science of Happiness at Work: Set Goals That Ladder Up to Your Vision – This 10-minute video lesson walks learners through goal setting, introducing key concepts in the field of positive psychology to help learners increase their joy and productivity at work and in life. After viewing, learners will be able to prioritize their goals, set milestones, and create actionable to-do lists to reach their aspirations.
