Stuart Krieger ’83
Tell us about your current position:
I was a screen and television writer from 1976-2006 and a college professor at the University of California, Riverside from 2006-2025. I retired this year in June.
Were there any professors, mentors, or courses that had an impact on you?
Ron and Sarah Watts were my mentors and professors. They were the first people to tell me they believed I had the potential to make a living as a writer. Dick Burt was another professor who was very encouraging of my writing and made me believe I should move to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams.
Did you take part in any extracurriculars, internships, or campus organizations?
In the first semester of my senior year, I did a program at the Polytechnic of Central London, facilitated by Ron and Sarah Watts, that allowed me to take additional journalism and photography classes while getting to live in and explore London.
If you had to attribute your success to one thing at Brockport, what would it be?
The nurturing environment and ability to explore new things I was interested in. My time at Brockport helped build my confidence in a way that allowed me to make the move to Los Angeles.
What advice would you give to current students?
Say “yes” to opportunities, follow your dreams, and don’t be afraid to charge through adversity to come out the other side.
