Take Root is a monthly curated series that supports seasoned dance makers by providing an opportunity to present a paired evening of work. Participating artists build their body of work; network with fellow choreographers, dancers, and collaborators; and find new audiences.

Pruitt’s work was selected from a pool of both national and international applicants. Her piece “нет войне” was originally commissioned by Salt Lake City based Fem Dance Company in 2022 responding to the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine. нет войне means “no to war” in Russian. The work is an antiwar statement in support of Ukraine, and it’s also a work to help us reflect on our own culture, media consumption, and right to protest.
