Describe your most significant academic accomplishment.
“My most significant academic achievement was winning the Phi Alpha Theta Paper Prize Competition in 2022. It was for my graduate-level research paper on the effectiveness of white terror groups in the Reconstruction era.”
How has the above experience impacted your future plans?
“My dream is to go for my PhD in History. I will be starting that this Fall at Binghamton University. Winning that paper prize really gave me confidence for entering my masters program. It also helped me in deciding what area of history I wanted to specialize in for my PhD.”
What would you tell a future student interested in your field of study?
“I would tell future students to make connections. The faculty in the history department are the most welcoming but the most helpful. The relationships and connections I built are key growth as both a student and a person.”
Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you chose Brockport.
“I was recruited to play soccer at Brockport. On my overnight visit, Brockport Hall of Fame alum Mary Kay Maslanka was the assistant coach at the soccer team. Mare organized part of my visit to meet the faculty in the history department. I said hello to everyone who was around that day and Mare set up a meeting with Dr. Leslie for some time. I got to meet with Dr. Leslie who also introduced me to the president of the History Forum at the time. Everyone was so kind and friendly, and between that and the rest of my soccer visit, I committed to Brockport immediately!”
