Alison Barrow

In November 2024, Alison Barrow applied for a Critical Language Scholarship Spark Grant to learn Russian this summer. She is currently a junior double-majoring in Anthropology and History.

Originally from Spencerport, Alison came to SUNY Brockport to learn about the past. She hopes to preserve history and make archival resources more accessible for people so that they can learn and enjoy history as much as she does. With the help of Dr. Busch, Alison applied for the CLS Spark program in Russian because she is particularly interested in Russian History, which she studies with Dr. Meredith Roman in the Department of History. The topic of her Honors thesis project is “The Abuse of Psychiatry in the Soviet Union in the 1960s and 1970s” and she expects to be able to use what she learns in the Spark program to enhance her project.
