Bio
Dr. Burgoyne grew up in Rochester, NY and is grateful to have spent the majority of her career caring for people in this vibrant community.
After earning her bachelor’s of science, nursing degree from New York University, Dr. Burgoyne started her nursing career in an acute care unit at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY. She eventually returned to her hometown to work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Strong Memorial Hospital. She continued this exciting and fulfilling work while completing her Master’s degree at University of Rochester. After obtaining her licensure and certification as a family nurse practitioner, Dr. Burgoyne began practicing as an NP in the Infectious Diseases Division of UR Medicine. Her work in the Infectious Diseases Division has focused primarily on caring for patients with infections that are particularly difficult treat due to frequent recurrences, complexity of therapy or antimicrobial resistance in organisms. An additional focus of her work has been caring for patients requiring intravenous courses of antimicrobial therapy in the outpatient setting. Dr. Burgoyne has been involved in several quality improvement projects related to home IV antimicrobial therapy. Dr. Burgoyne continues to practice in the Infectious Diseases clinic on a limited basis.
Dr. Burgoyne lives with her husband and two sons. She and her family enjoy bike riding, gardening, reading and DIY home improving together.
