CAD & SAVE Workshops

Most certification candidates at the University enroll in coursework that offers the opportunity to complete these required trainings. However, not all students (typically transfer or graduate students working toward their first certification) complete these trainings through their studies at the University.

Any student not able to show proof of training completion, and are not scheduled to complete a course that offers such training, can complete either workshop through an online workshop.

Please note: Once you have completed an online workshop, you must:

  1. Print your certificate of completion
  2. Sign and date it
  3. Forward a copy to your academic department as proof that you have satisfied that program requirement

IMPORTANT: Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect Identification Workshop (Second Update) Required

Applications for certification submitted on or after October 1, 2025, will require completion of the second updated workshop for issuance of the certificate.

New York State Approved Teacher Preparation Programs entering recommendations for certification on or after October 1, 2025, must verify that the second updated workshop has been completed at the time of the recommendation.

Please ensure that the second updated workshop is in TEACH. Contact the workshop provider with questions regarding how to report the workshop to NYSED so that it appears in TEACH. It will be under Account Information in TEACH.

All educators and school staff who are mandated reporters must complete the Second Updated Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect Identification workshop by November 17, 2026.

The 15-minute addendum taken with the same provider that the first revision to the workshop was taken will satisfy this requirement.
