2024 Total Solar Eclipse

Re-live the awe-inspiring total solar eclipse from every angle.

The center line of the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse cut through SUNY Brockport’s campus on April 8, 2024 — making it one of the premier places in the country to witness the celestial event. To celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon, the University hosted an event that brought together the SUNY Brockport community, the Greater Rochester community, and visitors from around the world.

A crowd of more than 2,000 people enjoyed live music, local food trucks, and an energized atmosphere. Nik and the Nice Guys and the Trinidad and Tobago Steelband performed live music and entertainment starting at 11 am until the partial eclipse began just after 2 pm.

Cloud coverage over the Brockport area inhibited the viewing experience, but didn’t dampen the spirits of those in attendance. Totality began at 3:20, and as darkness rapidly descended upon the campus, the crowd erupted in cheers. Hundreds of phone lights lit up the field as people captured the rare experience on video. Totality lasted three minutes and 43 seconds, before the light returned, resulting in another cheer as normalcy returned to the skies.
