Volunteer Job Descriptions

Volunteer and experience a total solar eclipse at SUNY Brockport while helping our visitors from all over the country. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a truly spectacular event. 

Volunteer Sign-Up Form

Parking Attendant

Assist in maintaining orderly environment by providing traffic control on roadways, access roads, and parking areas; greet attendees and direct to designated parking area; use issued handheld equipment to verify proper payment; adjust barricades and signage, as needed; provide driving directions; deter illegal/ad hoc parking patterns; provide a welcoming environment. Training will be provided on proper use of scanner, handheld radio, and traffic flag. Working environment will require standing and walking. University will issue reflective vest to wear over personal clothing.

  • 6 am – Noon
  • 11 am – 4 pm
  • 3 – 7 pm

Lead Attendants

Oversight of assigned parking attendants; reassignment of attendants as necessary; ensure staff are provided breaks; provide updates and space counts to Director. Working environment will require standing and walking. A university-issued vehicle may be assigned. Valid driver’s license required.

Access Control Technician

Placement and/or removal of portable barricades and signage.

Monday, April 8:

  • 6 am – 8 am

Merchandise (All spots filled)

Using a card reader sell glasses and other merchandise at a designated booth


Greeter (All spots filled)

Welcome visitors as they arrive at SUNY Brockport. Located in parking lots, around the stadium. Direct visitors to food trucks, restrooms, entertainment, merchandise booths, etc.


Wayfinder (All spots filled)

Various locations across campus. Assist visitors in navigating to areas around campus: restrooms, where to eat, stadium, back to parking lots, etc.
