Finding Aids for the Rose Archives

This site houses the Finding Aids that describe in detail the scope and content of each of the collections within the Rose Archives. (This is in development through October 2025, with new finding aids added every month.)

SUNY Brockport: SUNY Digital Repository (SDR)

This online resource preserving the school’s history is organized into four collections:

  • Events/Conferences - Photos and conference materials across many subjects
  • Newspapers and Newsletters – Digitized and born-digital publications from the many departments of the school.
  • Special Collections/Archives - A wealth of material from the Rose Archives, including the complete run of yearbooks from 1899 through the last publication in 1996, all College and University Senate Resolutions, digitized books and documents, videos, oral histories, born-digital presentations, hundreds of lantern slides used for teaching about world cultures in the Normal School, and more.
  • Writers Forum – Houses more than 300 interviews with visiting authors from 1968 to the present.

NY Heritage: SUNY Brockport

This site includes some materials that were digitized previous to the University developing its own online collection. It includes: Brockport village glass plate negatives from the early 20th century, the SUNY Brockport slide collection which contains images of the institution from early to mid- 20th century, issues of the student publication “Normalia” from the early 20th century, and some early 20th century editions of The Stylus.

New York State Historic Newspapers

This site includes searchable versions of The Stylus (1928-2024), Brockport Republic (1856-1925), Brockport Republic & Democrat (1925-1954), and Republic-Democrate (1955-1974)

SUNY Brockport: SUNY Open Access Repository (SOAR)

This online digital repository stores, indexes, and makes available scholarly and creative works of SUNY faculty, students, and staff from Brockport and across SUNY campuses.
