Are you looking for a quiet space to relax in the building? If so, the basement lounge is for you! Featuring a variety of comfortable seating options, a pool table, and a HydroMassage water massage chair, this is the perfect place to unwind. The basement lounge also features an assortment of rental lockers for students who want a convenient place to store class-related materials.

Located in the basement, the Center for Gender & Sexual Diversity is a space dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ students and their allies. Students are encouraged to hang out in the lounge space or attend any of the identity-based programs held throughout the semester. Students who are exploring their gender identity and/or gender expression are welcome to visit the Queer Closet, located at Union B147, to pick out gender-affirming clothes. Stop by to hang out in a safe space, learn about LGBTQIA+ identities, or be an ally! 

The computer lounge is the perfect location for students who want a quiet place to study. Located in the basement near the Center for Gender & Sexual Diversity, the computer lounge features a variety of power stations, computer terminals, and comfortable seating options. A printer is available for students who need to print out physical documents. The computer lounge is open daily until 7 pm, making this a great alternative for students who wish to study on-campus during daytime hours.

Located in Union 114, this computer lab is home to the SUNY Brockport Esports team. A club sport managed by Campus Recreation, this team competes in different intercollegiate tournaments for a variety of video games. However, you do not need to be a pro-gamer to join the club! All students interested in video games, regardless of experience, are encouraged to join. Stop by the Esports lab for more information about the club or upcoming events.

Named after SUNY Brockport alumni Joey Jackson, the Intercultural Center is a space dedicated to supporting underrepresented students. Located on the second floor, the Intercultural Center features lounge space (complete with large screen TV), quiet study space, a kitchen, and a HydroMassage water massage chair.

Join the Intercultural Center staff at one of many identity-based programs held throughout the semester. Meet new friends, get connected to different multicultural clubs, or study for your next test, all in one location!

The interfaith space is a location for students to practice their religious and/or spiritual beliefs, regardless of affiliation or denomination. Conveniently located on the second floor across from the Joey Jackson Intercultural Center, this space offers privacy and versatility to its users. All religious and spiritual beliefs are welcome in the interfaith space!

Students using the interfaith space must be mindful of others that use the room. Users are welcome to display religious and/or spiritual imagery in the room. However, users must respect all forms of imagery, even if it is from a different religion or spiritual belief.

Located directly across from The Square food court in the heart of the Union, the main lounge is hub of activity in the building. Featuring a variety of comfortable lounge furniture and table-seating options, this is the perfect place to eat a meal, socialize with friends, or informally meet with your professor. Campus departments, registered student organizations, and outside vendors will frequently table or host events in the lounge, making this the perfect location for students to go if they are looking for ways to get involved on-campus.

The patio is an excellent space for students who want to enjoy the weather on a beautiful day. Conveniently located behind the Union, the patio can be easily accessed from the Union’s main lounge or the sidewalk running between the Union and Rakov Hall. Featuring multiple elevated picnic tables with large, shade-providing umbrellas, the patio is the preferred destination for outdoor meals or study sessions. Keep an eye out for student organizations hosting events on the patio during the late spring or early fall months!

The Space is a resource center for SUNY Brockport’s registered student organizations. Found in the basement, this location serves as a collaborative environment dedicated to providing student organizations with the tools and services necessary for success. Several key staff members from the Office of Student Union, Leadership, and Activities have offices in The Space, making them easily accessible for student support.

The Space also has a printing station available for student use. Come to The Space to plan your next event, collaborate with other organizations, plan a community service campaign, or learn how to become an effective student-leader.
