Fall 2023/Spring 2024 Course Fee Requests
Members reviewed the course fee requests. The following questions, answers and discussion points occurred:
- PES 635
- The question was raised regarding what items would be used for the sutures. It was stated that bananas and oranges would be used.
- It was stated that course fees on the undergraduate course that collected fees for similar items were removed last year and are being moved to this graduate course.
- NUR 343
- The question was raised regarding if the only students that can register for the course are full majors and not intents. It was stated that is correct. Only nursing students can take the course.
- The question was raised regarding if the $415 was only for one semester or if it would be charged for multiple semesters. It was stated that it is only for one semester.
- NUR 346, 442, 446, 550
- It was stated that the $185 fee would be charged each semester. This would be for four semesters.
- The question was raised that the student would be paying a total of $740 for the four semesters and how much was the student paying individually to the bookstore. It was stated that the review course was $499, and the product used in the senior year was $250. This product also promotes not using other items and textbooks, saving the student another $140.
There may be another Spring 2024 course fee request submitted in the coming months. It is for a Social Work course, and it is for a software program. The department is still working through the campus protocol to get the software approved.

Discussion and Planning
Course Fee Financial Hardship Waiver Policy
- The policy is currently under the 30-day campus review. Once this is complete, we will plan to move forward with our next steps.
- The question was raised regarding the field on the form involving New York State aid and the possibility of adding instructions for graduate students to insert not applicable for this section. It was agreed that a line would be added.
- The form will reside on the Registration and Records webpage under forms.
- The question was raised regarding who would be reviewing the form. It was stated that the form would start in Financial Aid due to needing to determine the financial need of the student. Once approved, Student Accounts will be manually removing the fees.
Replacement Diploma Fee Increase Update
- The diploma fee increase was approved by Cabinet.
- It was clarified that the printing of diplomas was outsourced. This increase will cover the cost of producing the replacement diploma. It was confirmed that the fee has not increased in 40 years.
