Members were asked to review the meeting summary and to send any corrections to Ms. Wight by April 12, 2024.
Fall 2024/Spring 2025 Course Fee Request
The following items were discussed:
- Members approved all course fee requests except for the Cybersecurity ones.
- Dr. Hallenbeck-McPhall reported that discussions have occurred about funding for Cybersecurity. There is potential for funding as long as all bodies are in agreement about not passing the course fee.
- The course fee recommendations will go to JPBC on April 11th where the committee will either endorse or not endorse the recommendations.
- It is believed that the recommendations will be reviewed by Cabinet the week of April 15th.
- The fall fees will then be submitted for SUNY approval as they are due by May 1st.
- Feedback on the course fee review process was that it was more work and the timeline may need to be adjusted next year to ensure timely completion.
Closing the Loop - ENV Course Fees
The following items were reported from Dr. Rinchard’s follow-up:
- The plush toys were purchased for a lab activity for Kristen’s wildlife ecology course.
- The classroom stationery includes items such as clipboards, dry erase markers, erasers and write in the rain paper that are used for teaching and lab activities.
Members will be reviewing the Nursing fees for the next meeting, and they were distributed to committee members.
FY24/25 Broad-Based Fees
Dr. Hallenbeck-McPhall reported that she attended SUBOA on March 20th and 21st and there were no updates on broad-based fees as they were waiting for the State budget to be passed. The feeling is that there is not going to be increases for the next year, but the comprehensive fee discussion is still on the table.
Members discussed the results of the feedback form. The following items were discussed:
- Further educate students about what the fees cover so that there is a better understanding of why the fees exist and what they can expect to get out of the fee. Also, thinking about the quality of the student experience and what is shared when students are admitted to the University regarding the fees.
- The concern was discussed regarding that a lot of the fee-based budgets are heading in the negative direction. Some deficits are starting to develop or are growing. Discussions need to occur regarding what support is going to be provided to these budgets or changes may need to be made to what is being offered to students, but this would impact the student experience. This concern is going to be addressed to JPBC at an upcoming meeting and whatever is discussed at JPBC will be brought back to this committee.
- The feedback will be shared with fee managers so that they incorporate it into the presentations, and they may want to reach out to the students to provide the information.

Dr. Hallenbeck-McPhall will reach out to the voting members that were not present to obtain an electronic vote for them. Then the voting results will be shared with JPBC. JPBC will then vote on whether to endorse the committee’s fee recommendations and the voting results of both committees with be shared with Cabinet.

SUNY Pooled Offset Discussions
Dr. Hallenbeck-McPhall reported that discussions occurred at SUBOA regarding the proposals and some recommendations were made from the group.
